Scope and Content
The records of the Water Utilities Department of the City of Denton consist of material accumulated since 1940. The materials include work orders, reports, financial documents, drawings, plans and photographs.
The collection has six series: Organizational Files, Drawings and Plans, Subject Files, Printed Materials, Maps, and Photographs. The first series, Organizational Files (1947-2012), contains four subseries: Work Orders, which include original work orders and maps for water and sewer lines; Reports, which include reports and studies on various water related projects; Financial Records, which contain bond budgets for sewer and water; and Construction Project Records, which include plans and contract documents for various water related projects. Series II, Drawings and Plans (1971-1975), consists of blueprints and shop drawings for waterlines and pumps. Series III, Subject Files (1988-2001) contains materials related to the Lake Ray Roberts Hydroelectric Plan Project which is restricted For Official Use Only (FOUO), the Ray Roberts water treatment plant, the Lake Lewisville pump station property, and the McKenna Park water tower. Series IV, Printed Materials (1940-1959) contains printed materials and publications related to water projects. Series V, Maps (1963) contains maps of water studies performed in Denton County. Series VI, Photographs (undated) contains photographs related to water projects.
