Abstract The first library in Denton was housed in what is now the Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum, from 1935 to 1949 when a new building was erected that is now the current location of the Emily Fowler Central Library. That building was renovated and expanded in 1968, then again in 1980s and yet again in 2005. The Denton Public Library System also consists of two branch libraries: the South Branch, which opened in 1995 and was renovated in 2009 and the North Branch, which opened in 2003....

Abstract The Economic Development Collection contains the historical background and involvement of the Main Street Program, Sister Cities International, and other international programs between 1966 and 2012. Its assistance to the City of Denton includes the improvements of local businesses and presevation of historic structures with the assistance of the Denton Historical Commission and the Texas Landmark Commission.

Abstract In 1909 the Denton Chamber of Commerce established a park committee to investigate value added by city parks in preparation of establishing the first city park for Denton. In 1912 the first official Park Board was established and subsequently written into the City Charter. The first modern City Charter for Denton was written in 1959 in which Section 5.05 created the Parks and Recreation Department.

Abstract The Water Utilities Department, as it is known today, is an inter-related group of utilities and divisions with similar purpose. It is administered by the General Manager of Utilities under whom the Directors of the Water Utility and Wastewater Utility operate.
